Position Compensation: $18.52 - $20.58 / hour

Location: University Campus - St. Paul, Minnesota

Position

Summary

Provides comprehensive building operations and custodial support to ensure facilities are safe, clean, functional, and ready to support daily activities, special events, and emergency response efforts. Oversees routine facility maintenance, project coordination, and student employee supervision in alignment with safety and operational standards.

The approximate schedule for this full‑time position is Monday through Friday, 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM, with occasional on‑call responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Building Operations and Maintenance Oversight:
    Monitor building conditions, assess maintenance needs, submit and track work orders, and participate in facility project planning and implementation, including preparing project status reports.
  • Custodial Services and Facility Readiness:
    Ensure cleanliness, sanitation, and readiness of classrooms, offices, common areas, and residence spaces through routine custodial services, waste disposal, supply replenishment, and minor maintenance tasks.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    Maintain a safe work environment through proper use, storage, and maintenance of equipment, chemicals, and tools, including snow and ice response efforts to ensure safe building access during emergencies.
  • Supervision and Training:
    Train, oversee, and support student employees by promoting safe work practices, proper equipment and chemical usage, and safe lifting techniques to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Logistics, Event, and Operational Support:
    Coordinate room set‑ups and tear‑downs for events and meetings and transport equipment, furniture, and materials between departments and buildings to support operational and program needs.
  • Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Maintain a personal relationship with Jesus Christ; consistently witness for Christ; maintain a kind, Christ‑like attitude in dealing with and ministering to people within and outside of Northwestern; faithfully uphold and embrace Northwestern’s mission, doctrinal statement, and Declaration of Christian Community.

Nice to Have: Previous supervisory experience.

    Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed in on‑call capacity, including snow emergency response to ensure safe access to facilities.
  • Financial Oversight:
    Experience managing budgets and financial resources within assigned responsibilities.
  • Driver’s License:
    Valid driver’s license.
  • Background Check:
    Must pass initial and ongoing background checks as a condition of employment.

The work environment involves working for a suburban, Christian university or Christian owned and operated radio station alongside those with a demonstrated commitment and personal relationship with Jesus Christ, a commitment to the mission and values of Northwestern, and an agreement to abide by all Northwestern policies.
