Description
Facilities Maintenance Workers are responsible to provide janitorial and light maintenance duties, ensuring a safe, clean, and accessible environment for all visitors.
Essential Functions
- This position encompasses a variety of janitorial tasks in municipal buildings, including offices, restrooms, locker rooms, meeting rooms, common areas, fitness areas, gymnasium, indoor playground and other assigned areas. These janitorial tasks include but are not limited to: cleaning, sanitizing and disinfecting floors, carpets, windows, fixtures, sinks, toilets, showers, furniture and equipment.
- Perform light maintenance tasks such as minor repairs, basic plumbing fixes, replacing light bulbs and filters and assembling/moving furniture.
- Collect, remove and properly dispose of trash, recyclables and other waste materials.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Valid Class D driver's license.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds, walk and stand for long period of time and to perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions
- Ability to transport oneself to a variety of locations, climbing stairs and ladders, entering confined spaces, and operating hand and mechanical tools and equipment.
- Previous experience performing janitorial or maintenacne related tasks
- Developing and maintaining a thorough working knowledge of all department and applicable City policies and procedures in order to help facilitate compliance with such policies and procedures by all personnel.
- Demonstrating by personal example the service excellence and integrity expected from all staff.
- Developing respectful and cooperative relationships with co-workers, including willing assistance to newer staff so job responsibilities can be performed with confidence as quickly as possible.
- Conferring regularly with and keeping the immediate supervisor informed of all important matters pertaining to those functions and job responsibilities for which accountable.
- Representing the City in a professional manner to the general public and other outside contacts / constituencies in a manner that helps maintain and enhance New Brighton's reputation as a well-managed City.
