The DNR is seeking to hire one (1) seasonal full-time State Fair Building Coordinator in St. Paul, MN. The anticipated season is from mid-August through early September each year. The schedule for the day shift will be between the hours of 7:30am-3pm daily.
This position exists to support building and grounds maintenance, safety, cleanliness, hospitality, etc. at the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) grounds leading up to, during, and immediately after the Minnesota State Fair. The position reports to event leadership within the Office of Communication and Outreach (OCO) and supports execution of the event for the DNR. The role has a great deal of interaction with the public and ensuring a positive experience for all through maintenance of the grounds and exhibits throughout.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
+ Ensure building and exhibits are open and operating.
+ Make rounds of the grounds throughout the day/evening and trouble shoot exhibits/displays as needed.
+ Set up tables, speakers, tents for presenters as needed.
+ Ensure staff, volunteers and visitors have what they need.
+ Answer guest questions related to the fair and to the DNR or guide them to the answer.
+ Assist volunteer outdoor stage bands and presenters as needed.
+ Maintain safe and clean grounds.
This position is 100% on-site and requires reliable transportation to and from the state fairgrounds to arrive on time for daily shift.
** Minimum Qualifications*
* + Knowledge of basic A/V equipment such as TV's, digital video players, projectors, sound boards, and other relevant equipment on site.
+ Knowledge of routine cleaning sufficient to sweep and mop floors, dust and disinfect interior surfaces, and emptying the garbage, and recycling.
+ Knowledge of building maintenance sufficient to use common hand tools such as a hammer, screwdriver, wrench etc.
+ Customer service skills sufficient to provide prompt, courteous and accurate information to a variety of people in the public.
+ Ability to manage work tasks effectively, prioritizing customer service and safety.
+ Ability to recognize, analyze, communicate and effectively problem solve a variety of routine maintenance situations.
+ Ability to oversee volunteer or staff work as needed, and to direct sentence to serve (STS) crews in their assignment lists.
+ Ability to follow all current cleaning protocols and policies sufficient to maintain the grounds and equipment.
** Preferred Qualifications*
* + Customer service experience.
+ Experience working at a booth or exhibit.
+ Experience in grounds or facility maintenance.
+ Experience in cleaning, maintaining, and/or repairing buildings.
+ First Aid and CPR training or certification.
