Position Purpose/summaryTo provide effective team leadership in an effort to maintain a safe, clean, and attractive environment for staff and students to work and learn.
Qualification RequirementsThe Lead Custodian shall possess sufficient working knowledge of district custodial procedures, equipment maintenance/operations, and the ability to coordinate and prepare for upcoming events within the assigned building. Must possess the ability to effectively communicate in written and verbal formats. Must be able to work well under pressure and negotiate conflict situations as they arise.
Essential Duties (Major duties which the position exists to perform)The lead custodian must have the ability to lead a team of custodians to accomplish job goals, as well as help train employees when inadequate performance is observed. The lead custodian will confer with the building administrator(s) and custodial supervisor on the job performance of building custodians.
Mental DemandsAbility to maintain confidentiality; communicate clearly both orally and in writing, and/or ability to reason and make appropriate decisions. Must be able to work well under pressure and negotiate conflict situations as they arise.
Physical DemandsWhile performing these duties, the employee is regularly required to reach, climb, bend, stand, and walk. The employee continuously uses hand strength to grasp and use tools and climb ladders, as well as to use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls and talk and hear. The employee must normally lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift, move, push, or pull up to 100 pounds.
The employees will frequently push or pull items such as desks, tables, bleachers, and scrubbing machines. The employee should have good color vision, hearing, and speech capabilities.
The employee will occasionally work in conditions of extreme heat or cold.
