To provide staff and students with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean, and efficient place in which to work and learn.

The custodian should demonstrate the ability to perform the tasks listed, completing assigned tasks in accordance with established time and quality control guidelines.

• Maintain cleanliness of building, premises, and entryways including stairways, sidewalks, driveways, and play areas.
• Clean assigned areas daily in accordance with specified standards: classrooms, bathrooms, and hallways.
• Perform inside responsibilities as dictated by shift: maintain custodial closets, regulate heating, ventilation and air conditioning, raise and lower cafeteria tables, lock and unlock doors, clean body fluids, change and install light bulbs and pencil sharpeners.
• Perform outside responsibilities as dictated by shift: raise and lower the United States flag daily, keep grounds free of trash and litter, maintain dumpster area, mow and trim grounds, remove graffiti, remove snow and ice, maintain play areas, wash windows.
• Load and unload deliveries and supplies.
• Move furniture or equipment as directed by the principal.
• Attend and participate in any district‑required training.
• Assist with building function set‑up and clean‑up, ensuring the building is secure after the event has ended.
• Work in adverse weather conditions, including shoveling snow when required.

• Maintain a neat, clean personal appearance and wear district uniforms at all times when performing custodial duties.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the principal and their designee.
• Effectively communicate verbally and in written form with administrators, staff, and the community as needed.
• Maintain custodial tools and equipment.
• Report immediately to the lead custodian/supervisor any damage to school property and repairs needed.
• Assist in the cafeteria as needed.
• Perform emergency repairs or cleaning services as needed.

Maintain confidentiality; communicate clearly both orally and in writing; reason and make appropriate decisions.

Regularly reach, climb, bend, stand and walk; use hand strength to grasp and use tools and climb ladders; lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds; push or pull items such as desks, tables, bleachers, and scrubbing machines; good color vision, hearing and speech capabilities.

The employee will occasionally work in conditions of extreme heat or cold.

Employment will be on an at‑will basis for 12 months with two weeks vacation (or prorated vacation for school‑year employment). Each custodian will receive a work calendar showing the specific daily work schedule. The workday consists of eight and a half hours, including a 30‑minute non‑paid lunch period. The salary will be disbursed in twenty‑four equal payments.

$18.80 per hour.
