Overview

Facilities Engineering maintains 6 million square foot of facilities dedicated to clinical and academic functions. Facilities Engineering is comprised of 150 professionals, including engineers, MEP mechanics, building finishes and support staff. The Facilities and Engineering department at Barnes Jewish Hospital is a progressive, innovative department which stresses employee involvement, continued education/training and opportunities for advancement. Consistent customer and staff satisfaction surveys reflect a continuous rating in the upper 90% and staff responses to ''intent to continue employment at BJH'' rating in the upper 90%.

Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

Provides maintenance and engineering services. Provides superior level of customer service, technical skills, product knowledge and leadership to maintain the HVAC/Refrigeration systems. Assists the HVAC/Refrigeration supervisor and works with employees as a team on assignments, tasks preventative maintenance and the purchasing of shop supplies. Accomplishes the most difficult repairs and overhauls on any of the equipment in any facility of the system.

Performs all duties and responsibilities and have the same principle accountabilities, training, education, experience and physical demands as those of the senior level craft person of the assigned shop.

Responsibilities

  • Assigns duties, schedules and inspects completed work under the direction of the Supervisor to ensure finished work meets department guidelines and is complaint with all applicable codes.
  • Completes, plans, organizes and determines methods and materials that will be used on assigned tasks and projects.
  • Uses personal protective equipment and adheres to regulatory guidelines.
  • Repairs and maintains all aspects of the facility's heating, ventilation and air conditioning, medical gas, fluid equipment distribution and fire protection systems.
  • Performs routine preventative and predictive maintenance on assigned systems and equipment including calibration, alignment, and balancing.
  • Ensures all completed assignments meet all applicable code requirements.
  • Operates building automation system and makes modifications and additions to the system as required.

Minimum Requirements

Education

  • Associate or Trade School Equi
  • High School Diploma or GED

Experience

  • 5-10 years

  • No Experience

Licenses & Certifications

  • Universal EPA
