WHAT YOU WILL DO

The Custodial Housekeeper is a non-exempt position responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and upkeep of the Unaccompanied Children Program and performing custodial duties as assigned.

  • Provide a positive role model for the development of socialization and other skills for all children
  • Change and launder bed linens every 5 days or after a child is released from the Program, whichever is sooner
  • Clean all bathrooms daily, including sinks, mirrors, toilets, and mop floors daily
  • Sweep the laundry area and mop floors daily throughout
  • Empty trash daily from the offices, bathrooms, client bathrooms, and day areas
  • Vacuum the day room, hallways, office areas, and clients’ rooms daily
  • Clean clients’ shower stalls and bathtubs daily
  • Clean ceiling fans as needed throughout the building on a monthly basis
  • Distribute toilet paper and paper towels as needed
  • Dust, polish, and clean furniture throughout the building on a room-by-room rotating basis
  • Wipe walls and clean windows once a week
  • Change light bulbs, refill paper towels, refill sanitizing lotion, and soap
  • Check furniture for wear and tear; report any conditions that can be a hazard to the clients to maintenance immediately for repair or action
  • Develop an inventory list and amounts needed of all paper products and cleaning supplies on a monthly basis
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

  • $18.77 per hour PLUS $.50 per hour for working during second shift hours and $1.00 per hour for working overnight and weekend hours

WHAT YOU WILL NEED
  • High school diploma or equivalent degree and one (1) year of experience working with children, preferred
  • Previous professional experience in housekeeping/cleaning is preferred
  • Experience in a residential setting is preferred
  • Ability to understand and carry out instructions
  • Ability to deal professionally, courteously, and effectively with clients and staff
  • Ability to deal with minor emergencies and know where to seek help
  • Ability to communicate and read effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to communicate with a wide variety of people of varying ages and backgrounds
  • Ability to lift and/or carry cleaning supplies, equipment, etc., up to 40 lbs. when required
  • Ability to work under stressful situations and in a stressful environment
  • Ability to work overtime when required
  • Prolonged standing, bending, and lifting
  • Potential exposure to clients who may be verbally and/or physically aggressive
  • Potential exposure to communicable diseases and blood-borne pathogens
  • Must wear personal protective equipment as required by the exposure control plan and safety program
  • Must wear safety glasses when dealing with harsh chemicals
