Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, HVAC Tech / Heating Engineer
SUMMARY
Support client base by performing troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance on all types of industrial refrigeration equipment and systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Productivity and quality: troubleshoot, repair, and perform maintenance on all types of industrial refrigeration equipment and systems.
- Perform start up on new refrigeration systems.
- Complete required documentation and paperwork, including service work orders, maintenance checklists, calibration and safety control testing documentation, IIAR safety inspections, LOTO log, startup paperwork.
- Effectively communicate findings and required actions to customers.
- Communicate with Service Coordinator regarding work order progress, scheduling, customer needs, parts, materials, quotes, etc.
- Assist management with all other office projects as needed.
- Make decisions based on customer needs and APCCO standards.
- Maintain free‑flowing information and cooperation between customers and APCCO team.
- Work with APCCO team to find best approaches to handle customer requests.
- Purchase supplies and other expenses cost‑effectively, contributing cost‑saving ideas.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
WORK ENVIRONMENTPrimarily at customer locations with open, loud, and equipment‑heavy environments. Exposure to various sights and smells, including processing chemicals.
KNOWLEDGE,SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of industrial refrigeration systems commonly used in cold storage, food and beverage processing industries.
- First‑hand experience troubleshooting and repairing industrial refrigeration equipment, valves, controls, etc.; experience with system pump‑downs and evacuations.
- Experience performing system calibrations and start‑ups, including compressor alignment skills.
- Safe handling of ammonia refrigeration systems and anhydrous ammonia; basic OSHA safety knowledge (PPE, LOTO, Line Break).
- Ability to pass a fit test and wear a full‑face respirator.
- Knowledgeable in reading blueprints, plans, and specifications.
- Travel required to meet with clients for troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance.
- Ability to participate effectively in a team atmosphere, promoting conflict resolution, diversity, ethical practices, and organizational citizenship.
Full‑time. Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 4:00 pm; hours may vary based on job needs.
TRAVELTravel expected to service customer needs.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE- Minimum 5‑7 years’ experience as an operator or service technician with industrial refrigeration systems at food and beverage plants, cold storage warehouses, or equipment manufacturers.
- RetA Operator Certification a plus.
- Refrigeration trade school graduate a plus.
- For employees who drive company or personal vehicles for company purposes:
- Read, understand, and follow APCCO Motor Vehicle Policy and Vehicle Maintenance Policy.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Provide a clear DMV record insurable with the company vehicle insurance carrier; no accidents, incidents, or DUI in past 5 years.
- Participate in company‑sponsored programs to maintain or improve driver safety.
