Rest Area Specialist – Gettings Creek/Oak Grove (Eugene area)
Location:
Gettings Creek (I‑5, milepost 178) & Oak Grove (I‑5, milepost 206) Rest Areas. Must live within 60 minutes of both sites.
Full‑time, Wednesday–Sunday, 7:00 am–3:30 pm. Tentative; may vary.
Required- Valid driver’s license issued in the state of residence.
- First Aid/CPR and Bloodborne Pathogens certification.
- Residence within 60 minutes of both sites; relocation within 90 days if moving.
- Keep facilities and grounds clean, safe, and in top shape.
- Perform daily inspections, basic maintenance, and landscaping.
- Operate equipment such as mowers, tractors, and power tools.
- Complete minor plumbing, carpentry, and electrical repairs.
- Support contractors and fill‑in staff when needed.
- Help travelers and ensure site rules are followed.
- Communicate clearly with the team, supervisor, and partners.
Works indoors and outdoors in all weather. Tasks include maneuvering heavy objects, using ladders, climbing, lifting up to 50 lbs, and performing activities such as bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, climbing, twisting, pushing, and pulling.
Minimum Qualifications- Six months of experience operating heavy or light motorized equipment, using hand and power tools, and performing minor mechanical servicing, landscaping, maintenance, mechanical, logging, or construction work.
- Experience with plumbing, carpentry, electrical work, painting, cleaning, and landscaping.
- Knowledge of irrigation systems.
- Knowledge of state and federal safety regulations, including use of personal protective equipment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience providing excellent customer service.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to manage tasks, meet deadlines, and work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Agency‑provided vehicle for travel to and from worksite.
