School Janitor, CE-3566-01 – Full time, Year Long
Salary Range $14.66 to $24.07 per Hour

Statement of DutiesIncumbent will create and maintain a safe, positive learning environment, supporting the BIE’s mission to provide high quality education opportunities. Duties include cleaning, maintaining and performing minor repairs in school facilities, ensuring compliance with material safety data sheets, and operating a government vehicle when required.
Responsibilities- Clean designated areas (offices, classrooms, storage, hallways, entrances).
- Use materials, chemicals and equipment to sweep, mop, scrub, wax and polish.
- Empty trash cans, haul trash, shovel snow, remove ice, mow grass, chop weeds and trim shrubs as needed.
- Vacuum and clean carpet, wash windows, blinds and chalkboards.
- Perform minor maintenance such as changing light bulbs, replacing door handles or panels, touch‑up painting and graffiti removal.
- Maintain janitorial supplies and equipment, ensuring proper functioning and making adjustments or minor repairs as necessary.
- Operate a government vehicle according to district requirements.

Basic Education and Experience RequirementsHigh School or GED Diploma.
Conditions of EmploymentA valid State Driver’s license is a prerequisite. Failure to maintain a license may result in removal from the position.
Physical RequirementsApplicants must be able to lift over 50 pounds, have adequate near and distant vision, good hearing, and strong hand and foot coordination. An annual physical examination is required. Personal protective clothing may be required.
Special ReferenceApplicants must be U.S. citizens. A favorable background investigation is required. The position is subject to a two‑semester probationary period, which may be extended. A pre‑employment physical examination will be required. Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete Selective Service documentation. Government housing is not available and relocation expenses will not be paid.
