Lead Mechanic

Purpose:

To improve student achievement by providing lead work direction and participating in the work of personnel engaged in the skilled repair, maintenance and servicing of a wide variety of vehicles and other equipment.

Salem Keizer Public Schools is seeking a highly skilled Lead Mechanic to ensure the safe and reliable operation of the district’s school buses and vehicle fleet. This position serves as the technical expert within the shop, providing essential leadership and work direction to the fleet services team. The ideal candidate is an experienced mechanic dedicated to coordinating daily shop operations while performing complex diagnostics, preventative maintenance, and major repairs.

This role is critical to maintaining strict fleet safety standards and ensuring the secure transportation of students across the community.

Hours per day: 8.0

Number of days per year: 260

Status: Permanent

Hourly Range: $34.80 - $44.43

Salary Range is based on 2025-26 schedule and is subject to change.
