Performs custodial duties to fulfill custodial services contract requirements according to customer specifications. Performs all tasks in a safe manner and meets Garten quality standards. Must be open to learning. May work independently or in cooperation with a team. Even when working independently, Garten is a team environment.

• Being the primary driver for the team(s) assigned to.
• Performs custodial duties such as vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, removing trash, and other miscellaneous services safely and in compliance with all Garten policies and procedures.
• Monitoring supply needs and stock levels. Places supply requests as needed to maintain adequate inventory. Assists with distribution of supplies.
• Checks quality against task lists and/or other control documents to ensure all items are completed for the site each time.

• Performs quality assurance checks.
• Provides input on ways the organization can create integrated employment opportunities for people with disabilities.
• Participates in and attends committees/teams as assigned.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

• Performs duties independently with minimal supervision, operates from established and well-known procedures. Decisions are made within general company policy constraints but may occasionally require independent decision making.
• Mistakes/errors may cause complaints from customers which could result in customer dissatisfaction up to the point of contract cancellation. This could have negative public relations and financial impact.

• This position is not supervisory in nature.

• Has both internal and external contacts. The most common internal contacts are with own department staff and supervisor. The most frequent external contacts are with customers. The types of interactions, for both internal and external contacts, involve information exchange.
• Internal and external contacts are often made at the employee's own initiative with all contacts being face to face. At least 20% of all contacts are with external customers while 80% are internal or non-customers.

• Ability to provide own transportation to and from work, with valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and proof of current vehicle insurance preferred.
• Ability to be the primary driver for designated team(s).
• Physical ability to operate custodial equipment, bend, twist, stoop, kneel, reach overhead, climb stairs and make repetitive motions of the arms/hands.
• Physical ability to push/pull up to 20 pounds, to lift up to 200 pounds with assistance, and to carry up to 40 pounds regularly throughout a normal workday.
• Ability to balance attentiveness to quality while concentrating on speed.
• Ability to notice detail.
• Ability to make decisions, use independent judgment and/or take independent action, and provide customer service.
• Must be capable and willing to work an 8-hour day and up to 40 hours/week as required.
• Able to read, write, speak, and understand English preferred.
• Ability to actively participate in team development and team-oriented processes.

• A minimum of 1-6 months experience/training in general custodial service.
• A minimum of three (3) years of driving experience.

• This position requires the incumbent to work in an environment where there may be exposure to fumes, noise, poor lighting, poor ventilation, dirt, dust, chemicals, odors, building temperature fluctuations, and biohazards. Other working conditions may include: working alone; on-call status; shift work; disagreeable contacts (i.e. aggressive/agitated individuals); and frequent interruptions. May be required to attend meetings outside of regular shift.
