Overview
Johnson Service Group is seeking an Aviation GSE for a contract assignment. This role is in Salinas, CA.
Rate Range- $40-50 / hr
Previous experience as a heavy equipment field mechanic, diesel mechanic, or farm equipment mechanic
Welding & fabrication experience (preferred)
Class A CDL (bonus qualification, not required)
Responsibilities- Be responsible for servicing and maintaining all Flight Test Ground Support Equipment (GSE)
- Carry out daily, weekly, and monthly GSE maintenance schedules ensuring all equipment is functional, clean, and organized
- Support Archer’s scheduled vendor services such as fuel delivery and site services ensuring no gaps in coverage
- Ensures a clean, organized, and professional workplace up to 5S standards, FOD prevention, and tool control.
- Ensure that products, parts, supplies, and consumables for GSE are adequately stocked to meet Flight Testing operations
- Provide plans and status updates back to the Airfield Ground Operations Manager on assigned projects
- Provide input on the design and fabrication of GSE & fixturing from a perspective of hands on repairability and maintainability
- Maintain charge, & ground handling equipment for the aircraft ensuring they are ready for daily fl ight test operations.
- Follow Flight Test safety policies and procedures for ground operations as a part of Archers Safety Management System
- Maintain GSE maintenance records required by FAA regulations, manufacturer recommendations, and company policy
- Work from a variety of technical materials such as blueprints, schematics, handbooks, drawings, and work orders providing feedback as required
Facilities repair / reporting and follow up on corrections - Meet scheduled timelines and, in some cases, aggressive deadlines to meet project milestones
- Assume any duties as delegated by the Airfi eld Ground Operations Manager
- 5+ years of experience with Ground Support Equipment (GSE) & heavy equipment
- Previous experience in the aerospace industry
- Driving of aircraft tugs, carts, and lifts within an airport environment
- Advanced troubleshooting and repair of hydraulic and electrical systems
- Experience working with high voltage systems
- Knowledge of wiring techniques and best practices (crimping, routing, securing, etc.)
- A collaborative attitude, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and meticulous attention to detail with the ability to communicate and build cross-functional relationships
- Work with all levels of personnel and effectively interact with technicians and engineers
- Excellent planning and organization skills, including the ability to adapt and overcome issues

- The ability to push / pull lift up to 75lbs at times
- Ability to drive continuous improvement activities to exceed expectations and help promote a professional shop and organized environment
- Working Hours : Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays, and in indoor and outdoor environments
- Travel Requirements : This position requires travel 5-10% of the time
