Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Maintenance Worker
Job Summary
Perform basic irrigation tasks such as assisting with troubleshooting and repairing filters, pumps, and pipes. Learn to test water chemistry and adjust chemical feeds under supervision to maintain sanitary conditions. Support preventative maintenance efforts by conducting routine inspections. Assist in operating and maintaining the central irrigation control system. Contribute to maintaining a green campus by helping with simple tasks related to irrigation systems.
Closely adhere to industry and university best practices and safety requirements. A current driver’s license may be required.
- Irrigation Technician I (Job Code: S28572) – Perform basic irrigation tasks such as assisting with troubleshooting and repairing filters, pumps, and pipes. Learn to test water chemistry and adjust chemical feeds under supervision to maintain sanitary conditions. Support preventative maintenance efforts by conducting routine inspections. Assist in operating and maintaining the central irrigation control system. Contribute to maintaining a green campus by helping with simple tasks related to irrigation systems.
Requires little to no related experience. A current driver’s license may be required. - Irrigation Technician II (Job Code: S28573) – Operate, maintain, and program the central irrigation control system. Troubleshoot and repair irrigation system components, including filters, pumps, and pipes, to ensure proper functionality. Perform regular preventative maintenance and inspections while testing and adjusting water chemistry to maintain sanitary conditions. Collaborate with irrigation crews to resolve issues and coordinate with the landscape maintenance supervisor to align irrigation schedules with campus needs.
Requires at least 1 year of related experience. A current driver’s license may be required. - Irrigation Technician III (Job Code: S28571) – Oversee the operation, maintenance, and programming of the central irrigation control system. Lead efforts to troubleshoot complex irrigation issues and perform advanced repairs on filters, pumps, and piping systems. Ensure a green and sustainable campus by executing effective irrigation schedules, conducting thorough preventative maintenance, and testing water chemistry to optimize conditions. Review irrigation construction documents and designs, providing input on specifications and mapping.
Work closely with internal and external stakeholders, Facilities management, Construction managers and AEC partners to coordinate irrigation strategies. Requires 3+ years of related experience. A current driver’s license is required.
Equivalency statement: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).

- Work Schedule:
Monday – Friday operating hours are 6am to 4pm, hours to be worked out with manager. Mandatory rotating irrigation repair and snow removal on-call schedule. - Location:
Campus - Pay Rate Range: $12/hr – $28/hr
