The Centrifugal Service Technician – Compression Technologies and Services – serves customers by installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining our centrifugal compressor product lines (Centac, Turbo Air, large reciprocating air compressors) and compressed‑air system components. The role includes supervising installations, startup, major onsite repairs, detailed troubleshooting, and any phase of compressor repair. Precision measuring tools and operational/part manuals for all equipment are essential.
Responsibilities- Ensure correct installation, maintenance, and field repair of equipment manufactured and sold by Ingersoll Rand at the purchaser's location.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of field installation and repair requirements for this equipment.
- Provide technical advice and train customers, potential customers, field salesmen, and field service trainees.
- Diagnose problems and recommend corrective actions in an unsupervised environment; submit clear, accurate records and reports to the manufacturing facility.
- Maintain a high degree of integrity in handling business affairs.
- Use proper written and oral communication skills to transfer service‑work information concisely and logically.
- Submit detailed technical reports on each service call suitable for billing customers.
- Submit accurate, detailed, and timely expense account records and timecards weekly; maintain good financial records and practices for company business matters, credit cards, and, if required, a company car.
- Minimum 3 years experience troubleshooting industrial/commercial centrifugal air compressor mechanical systems.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Candidate must supply their own basic tools.
- Position is highly physical: regular use of hands, fingers, walking, stooping, kneeling; lift or move weight limits in line with the safety policy.
- Valid driver’s license for at least 12 months; no major or frequent traffic violations (including DUI within the last 5 years, Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless/Careless Driving, or multiple infractions in the last 3 years).
- Operating knowledge of Microsoft Office and basic computer usage; proficiency with handheld devices (smartphone, iPad) and network basics.
- Customer service skills: conflict resolution, communication, negotiation.
- Maintain proper business travel practices in a cost‑efficient manner.
- Experience with compressed‑air systems, centrifugal technologies, solid‑controls background, or knowledge of rotary and centrifugal air compressors, including dryers, cooling towers, and filtration systems.
- EPA 608 / F‑GAS 303/2008/CE/ISHRAE certification; refrigeration experience/certification a plus.
- Desired degree in Electrical/Electronic Technology or HVAC with knowledge of AC/DC circuits, wiring diagrams, motors/controls, PLCs, HVAC electricity, controls, refrigeration systems, and/or refrigerant certification. Military experience or sufficient mechanical working experience is a plus.
Extensive region‑wide travel;
Monday‑Friday travel typical.
