Position OverviewThe Wash Plant Maintenance Helper will work closely with the Asphalt, Mechanic, Maintenance, and Management Teams to ensure company-owned tools, equipment and vehicles are always maintained in good working order, consistent with direction provided by his/her direct manager.
The ideal candidate has experience with maintenance of wash plant equipment, particularly machines, and a thorough understanding of asphalt/aggregate wash plant work.
Key Responsibilities- Organize and inventory incoming parts
- Perform scheduled and non-scheduled cleaning of machines in general and prior to repairs
- Assist with maintenance and repairs including cleaning, greasing, oiling, and general maintenance of equipment such as conveyor belts, crushers, screens, rollers, VSI, etc. and other equipment relating to asphalt wash plant production.
- Work with Mechanics and Equipment Manager to evaluate condition of defective tools, equipment and fleet vehicles located at the plant; collaborate in trouble shooting defective equipment and participate in discussions to arrive to solutions for dealing with defective items.
- Following a standard maintenance schedule developed collaboratively with the Equipment Manager and Plant Manager, perform a routine inventory of parts and facility needs on company-owned tools and equipment. Ensure that inventory is performed on schedule, to standard and that accurate logs of such inventory are kept up to date.
- Ability to utilize hand tools.
- Ability to operate and maintain equipment including skid steer, elevator, and forklift.
- Before departing work each day, ensure that the shop and plant area is neat, clean and orderly; all tools are stored in their proper place and surfaces are free of trash and debris.
- Additional responsibilities as may be assumed or assigned from time to time in support of our company's effort to achieve client loyalty.
- Active TX driver's license with clean record preferred
- Entry Level position
- Work experience with maintenance and operation of milling, quarry, hot mix, and wash plant machines is a plus
- Must be organized with a detail-oriented mindset
- Must be positive, friendly, and professional
- Ability to work well with others in a group or one-on-one setting

- Willingness to take on additional tasks and responsibilities as they arise
- Exhibit excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize various tasks and complete them in a timely manner
- Able to perform duties independently
- Working knowledge of asphalt production and associated equipment, and an understanding of operations and safety requirements is preferred
- Familiarity with MSHA and OSHA regulations, a plus
- High School Diploma or GED preferred, but not required
- Be available for overtime, extended hours, night shifts, and weekends as required
- Some travel may be required as our operations span throughout Texas
- Work will be performed in both a general warehouse environment as well as a construction site environment, which could include but not be limited to inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
