Engineering Operations Technician, ADC Infra Ops DCEO

The Data Center Engineering Operations Technician (EOT) is Amazon’s front‑line responder for hands‑on electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting and operation across the data center. The role covers stand‑by diesel generators, switchboards, UPSs, PDUs, AHUs, pumps, motors, VFDs, and building automation systems, and requires 24/7 shift coverage in rotating shift patterns.

Must be a US citizen and obtain and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph.

• Operate and maintain mechanical and electrical emergency generator, fire/life safety equipment.
• Troubleshoot facility and rack‑level events within internal SLAs.
• Perform limited maintenance tasks such as filter changes, HVAC preventive maintenance, rack power installs, and rack PDU/ATS replacements.
• Provide support to Data Center Operations technicians.
• Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures.
• Ensure all safety procedures are adhered to while performing work.
• Work rotating 12‑hour shifts on 3‑, 4‑, or 5‑day work weeks.
• Take daily operational readings of mechanical and electrical equipment (temperatures, voltages, currents, etc.).
• Use CMMS to manage building workflows and spare‑part inventory.
• Supervise contractors performing servicing or preventive maintenance.
• Respond to off‑hour emergency calls per on‑call rotation for region sites.
• Fully comply with all physical security procedures and policies.
• Drive innovation while reducing operational costs in the facilities.
• Manipulate small wires and objects.

• Walk job sites on uneven terrain.
• Work at heights and from ladders.
• Regularly lift up to 39 pounds, and participate in group lifts of 40 pounds or more.
• Bend or twist body into unusual positions while working.
• Push or pull heavy objects into position.
• Work in noisy environments.

• 4+ years of relevant work experience.
• Experience with BMS and EPMS control systems and data collection or trending.

• CFC license.
• Operating engineering license such as DC II, DC III, or equivalent.
• 2+ years of data center engineering experience.
• Electrical or mechanical Journeyman License.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
