JOB SUMMARY:

Perform general maintenance and repair duties for the grounds, facilities, equipment, and other areas as needed.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS/ABILITIES

Knowledge

* High school diploma or GED required.

* Two years of relevant experience required.

Skills/Abilities

* Possess a valid Texas Driver License and an acceptable driving record.

* Proficiency with the use and proper care of hand and power tools.

* Demonstrated high level of proficiency in building repair activities.

* Demonstrated proficiency to perform minor carpenter, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical repairs.

* Commercial ground maintenance experience.

* Proficiency with standard functions within applications such as Microsoft 365/Google, (word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software), e-mail, web browsers, and databases.

* Proficiency with computers (PCs and/or MACs) to include file and desktop management and operations, and working in a cloud-based and/or networked environment.

* Exceptions to these requirements will be considered based on exemplary skills, training, and record of success.

PRODUCTS AND OUTCOMES

* Monitor and/or maintain all building equipment.

* Responsible for completing assigned work orders.

* Build items (e.g., temporary partitions, cabinets, shelves, desks, etc.) for the purpose of modifying and/or adapting facilities to specific needs.

* Inspect facilities, systems, and their component machinery requiring skilled maintenance trades (e.g., electrical, HVAC, plumbing, buildings, etc.) for the purpose of identifying potential repairs and providing an ongoing program of preventive maintenance.

* Conduct maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs, ballast, and Center office moves.

* Perform minor repairs (e.g., floor, painting of walls, ceiling tile/grid, electrical, plumbing, etc.).

* Work with contracted vendors to resolve maintenance issues.

* Provide assistance with maintaining cleanliness inside and outside the building.

* Identify the necessary repair parts for ordering and submit them to the Operations Services Supervisor for order placement.

* Adhere to the Center's Safety Manual for Maintenance Employees.

BUDGET RESPONSIBILITY

* Be aware of and follow Center guidelines of allowable costs when recommending use of public funds for expenditures for supplies, equipment, and facilities in area of assignment.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS & ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS

* Tools/Equipment Used:
Standard office equipment including personal computer, peripherals, copy machine, phone, etc; exposure to microwaves and small appliances that produce a high level of heat; work around moving equipment; drive Center forklift in a safe manner.

* Posture:
Prolonged walking and standing; frequent bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, kneeling, and twisting.

* Motion:
Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching.

* Lifting:
Light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); occasional heavy lifting/carrying (15-50 pounds).

* Environment:
