Job Summary
The Data Center Technician supports critical building maintenance and systems in a Data Center. Operates, monitors, and maintains utilites, including HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) set up, maintenance and balancing. Acts as a first responder providing hands‑on electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting and operations. This equipment includes, but is not limited to: stand‑by diesel generators, switch gear, CRAH, CRAK, UPS's, PDU's, AHU's, chillers, cooling towers, chemical treatment systems, pumps, motors, VFD's, and building automation systems.
EssentialDuties
- Assist and maintains responsibility for facility services, preventative maintenance, purchasing and inventory control, contracted maintenance, general maintenance and technical proficiency
- Maintenance of the equipment will include cleaning, inspecting, calibrating and changing parts to maintain the HVAC systems and associated equipment at optimum performance levels.
- Maintain Fire, Life Safety, and Control systems for the facility to keep facility and building systems up to applicable standards as assigned.
- Assist Building TECH's in performing additional preventative maintenance work.
- Take daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipment and inspect buildings, grounds, and all equipment for unsafe or malfunctioning operation
- Regularly inspects and supervises critical equipment and responds too irregular or malfunctioning conditions
- Responds quickly to emergency situations that impact the operations and coordinates with other critical facilities professionals to perform corrective repairs
- Follows all federal, state, and local regulations for operations and work safety to include knowledge of safety procedures and equipment, procedures and established techniques
- Use of appropriate PPE such as ARC Flash suits.
- Over‑time work is required based on the needs of the business. Working hours are varied and nights, weekends and holidays may be required.
- Other duties as required.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Current universal refrigeration license and /or other trade licenses as required.
- Technical degree in a related field is preferred.
- 2-4 years experience in a critical facities environment.
- 2-4 years Electical and HVAC maintenance experience
