Job Summary
The Maintenance Technician II will lead a team to maintain a safe and well‑maintained store environment for Nordstrom customers and employees. The role supports the Facility Manager (FM) to keep stores ready for business daily, executes preventive maintenance, triages break‑fix requests, and mentors junior technicians across multiple Nordstrom stores and Rack locations.
Responsibilities- Lead and perform on‑demand and scheduled preventive maintenance on all critical and non‑critical equipment.
- Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems related to store operations.
- Operate and monitor building controls, HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
- Respond to alarms, verify building operation, and complete equipment and building rounds with accurate readings.
- Identify, mitigate, and report building system malfunctions.
- Perform manual labor tasks such as lifting, moving, and loading materials.
- Assist with administrative tasks: parts ordering, PO creation, vendor management, and attending job and project meetings.
- Promote and enforce safety procedures, including LOTO, PPE, ergonomics, working at heights, and machine guarding.
- Represent facilities in the FM’s absence by attending store and vendor meetings and documenting outcomes.
- Complete preventive maintenance routines with proper documentation and mentor peers on system accuracy.
- Assist the FM with technical training of new employees on equipment and building systems.
- Respond to location emergencies and update the CMMS to maintain accurate maintenance records.
- Maintain parts inventory, order items, and coordinate with outside contractors, vendors, and property managers.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and company directives related to building operations and safety.
- High School Diploma or GED; associate's degree or vocational training preferred.
- 5–7 years of hands‑on facilities experience with an emphasis on mechanical maintenance.
- 5+ years of predictive and preventive maintenance experience.
- Extensive HVAC, refrigeration, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical repair skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot basic input/output functions and perform low‑voltage signal tracing.
- Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and ordering platforms (e.g., Coupa).
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Knowledge of computer networking systems and infrastructure.
- Project management experience is a plus.
- Highly self‑motivated, works independently, and meets multiple deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills across all organizational levels.
- Flexible schedule; days, evenings, weekends, and off‑hours may be required.
- Stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders.
- Ability to lift or carry heavy loads of 50lb. or more.
Hourly: $19.25 – $32.25
