Perform highly complex custodial work in a state hospital setting, including cleaning, sanitizing, inspecting, and restocking supplies for treatment units, patient bedrooms, office surfaces, and other hospital areas. Coordinate with the Custodian Manager to support safety and infection control programs. The role requires independent judgment, initiative, and occasional assistance with disaster response or continuity operations.

• Perform cleaning, dusting, and disinfecting of restrooms, office surfaces, treatment areas, patient bedrooms, and other hospital areas using approved chemicals.
• Maintain cleaning supplies, chemicals, and equipment; track usage and restock as needed.
• Inspect buildings and identify problem areas; follow up on corrective actions.
• Maintain records of supplies used and equipment maintenance.
• Assist Custodian Manager in implementing safety and infection control programs.
• Work independently with limited supervision and provide backup to other custodians.
• Participate in disaster response, recovery, or COOP activation when required, including alternate shift patterns or locations.
• Maintain waste disposal procedures and ensure all waste/trash is collected regularly.

• One year of custodial/housekeeping experience in a nursing home, hospital, residential facility, hotel, or similar environment.
• Knowledge of cleaning techniques and procedures (dusting, sweeping, mopping, stripping, waxing floors, disinfecting restrooms).
• Knowledge of inventory control principles.
• Skills in use of custodial materials, chemicals, equipment, building maintenance tools.
• Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions; work timely and independently.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs, stand/walk on hard floors for extended periods, and work irregular/hybrid hours.
• Ability to work harmoniously with co‑workers and patients.

• Must pass background check, drug screening, and other registry checks.
• Must be at least 18 years old (21 for Waco Center for Youth).
• Must comply with HHSC immunization policy and state hospital immunization requirements.
• Must register with Selective Service if male aged 18-25.

• Position may require overtime and extended hours.
• Telework is not eligible.
