As a Housekeeping Associate II (PRN DAYS), you will maintain the general cleanliness of procedure areas, wound care, emergency department, GI lab, intensive care unit patient care areas, restrooms, and all other areas requiring environmental services support. Duties include removing trash and linen using compactor and cardboard baler, distributing linen throughout the hospital, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, wiping, and surface cleaning of floors, walls, ceilings, sinks, mirrors, showers, commodes, windows, and other glass areas, waiting areas, and public hallways.
You will perform terminal cleaning of isolation rooms or exam rooms as required, move furniture and heavy equipment as directed, complete established competencies for the position within the designated introductory period, and perform related duties as assigned.
- Perform cleaning functions in assigned areas using prescribed methods.
- Maintain assigned equipment for cleanliness and arrange repairs when necessary.
- Observe and report the need for repairs to equipment, furniture, building and fixtures.
- Apply proper infection control practices and isolation techniques.
- Perform other assigned tasks.
- Ensure the cleanliness and neat appearance of assigned areas, completing the schedule and following supervisor instructions.
- Utilize tools, supplies and chemicals for their intended purposes to protect equipment and hospital property.
- Use good judgment and proper procedures in the performance of assigned tasks.
- Support the mission and vision of the Baptist Healthcare System and demonstrate excellent customer service at all times.
- Understand and enforce system, departmental and hospital policies and procedures as well as established rules and regulations.
- Train in other functions or positions to enable satisfactory operation of the department/work unit or to allow flexible staffing assignments.
- Comply with system and facility safety policies and rules; use appropriate safety equipment and procedures at all times; report all unsafe conditions to supervisors; and check with supervisors before performing any job function if there is a question about the safe procedure.
- Demonstrate ability to work in a fast‑paced and customer service‑oriented environment and to perform duties and meet deadlines in a timely manner.
- Complete assignments independently and work as part of a team; take instructions from supervisors; exercise problem‑solving skills; and interact with co‑workers, supervisors, patients, vendors and the public in a professional and pleasant manner.
