** Summary
* * Under direct supervision, is responsible for laundry exchange and dispensing uniforms, bedding and other linen in a detention facility; assists in maintaining adequate supply of uniforms and  linen; supervises inmate workers; report writing of incidents, particularly destruction of County property, and performs related duties as required.
*
* Duties and Responsibilities:

*** Conducts daily clothing and bedding exchange for detainees in their living quarters
* Receives soiled uniforms, bedding and other linen issued to detainees
* Maintain laundry exchange record sheet
* Monitor inmate work teams stocking the laundry carts
* Monitor inmate work teams laundering soiled uniforms and linens
* Maintains cleanliness of laundry area
* Performs other duties as required
** Minimum Qualifications**:
* High School or General Education Development (GED) certificate
* Knowledge of basic laundering techniques
* Ability to understand and follow instructions; ability to maintain records and documents; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, County employees and detainees
* Must have a valid driver’s license
* Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance
* Must clear a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug screen test
* Required to work weekends, holidays and perform shift work
* May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek
** Working Environment and Physical Demands:
*** Working conditions are inside an industrial laundry within a jail environment; exposure to damp/wet conditions with limited exposure to hazardous laundry chemicals, noxious odors and fumes
* Frequently moves items weighing up to 15 pounds
* Occasionally moves items weighing up to 60 pounds
* Occasionally moves about the laundry room
* Frequently communicates with others; must be able to exchange accurate information
* Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery
* Positions self to perform essential functions
* Must be able to remain in a stationary position
