- Pay or shift range: $18 USD to $20 USD
The estimated range is the budgeted amount for this position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications and other job-related reasons.
The Sport Maintenance Technician is responsible for the upkeep, safety, and readiness of YMCA sports facilities, grounds, and equipment. This position ensures that all fields, restrooms, and related areas are clean, functional, and maintained to YMCA standards. The technician supports facility operations and program activities through effective maintenance, preparation, and communication.
This position will receive a minimum of 3 weeks Paid-Time Off, Holiday Pay, Full-time benefits to include Medical, Dental, Vision, Life insurance, a Retirement 403(b) pension plan upon eligibility and a Free YMCA Membership.

Facilities Maintenance and Upkeep
- Performupkeepofsoccer,baseball,andfootballfields,includingturfcare,irrigation,mowing,edging, weed control, and field lining.
- Conductgeneralgroundskeepingandparticipateinpreventativemaintenanceprograms;record maintenance and repair logs.
- Safelyoperatesmallpowerequipmentandhandtoolsasrequired. Event and Field Preparation
- Preparefieldsandfacilitiesforleagues,practices,tournaments,andYMCAprograms,includingsetup, field marking, and signage.
- Ensureallfieldsandfacilitiesareclean,safe,andevent-ready;setupandtakedownequipmentasneeded.
- Assistwithrepairs,replacements,andinventoryofsportsandmaintenanceequipment. Safety and Security
- FollowYMCAsafetystandardstoensureasecureenvironmentforathletes,families,andstaff.
- Report hazards,incidents,orsecurityconcernsimmediatelytothe
Sports
Director. - Respond promptly to emergencies, enforce YMCA policies, and serve as a positive role model.
- Maintain open communication with supervisors, staff, parents, players, and coaches regarding facility conditions and program needs.
- Performotherdutiesasassigned.
COMPETENCIES:
- Program/Project Management
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Demonstrated initiative,attentiontodetail,andprideinqualityworkmanship.
- Ability to read and interpret safety labels and hazardous material information.
- Strongorganizationalandtime-managementskillswiththeabilitytoprioritizetasks.
- Certificationsrequiredwithinthefirstweekofhire:
Redwoods Bloodborne Pathogens ,Hazardous Communications, and Defensive Driving. - Certificationsrequiredwithinthefirst
60daysofhire:
YMCAapprovedbasiclifesaving,skillssuchasCPR, First Aid, AED, and Emergency Oxygen. - Must meet driver approval requirements andmaintainavalid driver’slicenseto drive to various locations within the greater San Antonio metropolitan area.
- Workisperformedindoorsandoutdoors,includingsportsfieldsandgrounds,invaryingweatherconditions.
- Requiresmaintainingcomposureandsoundjudgmentinanactive,fast-paced environment.
