Maintenance Technician I & Groundskeeper

M – F 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Rotating On-Call duties

This position is responsible for:

Performs a variety of grounds keeping work in order to maintain the health and beautification of grounds surrounding Salvation Army buildings; performs routine repairs and maintenance of buildings and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Repairs mechanical malfunctions and performs preventative maintenance on heating and air condition equipment; adjusts and repairs physical plant machinery, heating and cooling systems.
• Coordinates and performs ongoing maintenance of the interior and structural portion of all facilities to include painting, changing air filters, and changing belts on all motors.
• Inspects, tests, and adjusts physical plant machinery; maintains electrical systems, and records in accordance with schedules.
• Participates in the repair of toilets, urinals, showers, drains, etc.; participates in the repair and replacement of light bulbs, fluorescent tubes, spotlights, exit lights, and other minor lighting malfunctions; assists in maintaining and/or fixing related issues with cooling and heating system, water pump system, and other issues that the building may require.

Working Conditions:

• Ability to meet attendance requirements.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language effectively.
• Ability to perform strenuous, heavy work involving the lifting and carrying of heavy objects.
• Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing.
• Ability to drive a vehicle safely and in compliance of all laws and regulations.
• Extensive amount of physical effort required associated with lifting, moving, and carrying heavy objects (more than 50 lbs.) frequently.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or G.E.D
• AND one to two years responsible experience performing maintenance and repair work for commercial buildings and grounds or performing construction work, OR any equivalent combination of training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Certifications:

• Valid State Drivers License
