Fitter Welder Apprentice
Join the Johnson Controls team as a Fitter Welder Apprentice at our San Antonio, TX plant. This role is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to gain hands-on experience in the manufacturing industry. You will work under the guidance of experienced professionals while developing essential skills in fit up, fabrication and welding.
You will be responsible for the local delivery and execution of the fit up, fabrication and core welding to vendors and managers in accordance with Johnson Controls principles, corporate policies and procedures, and plant operations. You will perform a variety of employment related functions for the ultimate purpose of enhancing employee engagement, safety and health, productivity and ensuring employee compliance with Company policies in a manufacturing facility.
HowYou Will Do It
- Have successfully passed 2G plate welding test and 6G short arc pipe welding test within Johnson Controls - San Antonio
- The use of various hand tools, machinery and equipment will be required to manufacture metal
- Standard blueprint knowledge
- This position will work with supervisors and leadman to ensure continuous improvements in work cells, hitting quotas, welding according to pre-set parameters using GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding) welding processes
- The ability to scan in and out of work orders is a must
- Proven knowledge and skill in operating all metalworking machinery
- Ability to read and understand production drawings, blueprints, work orders and other written instructions
- Minimum of 6 months of MIG Alloy and Steel welding experience
- Follow Operation Description Sheet (ODS) and Training Documents
- High School Diploma, GED or certifications

- Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally always
Hiring Hourly Range $21.50 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.) This position includes a competitive benefits package. The posted salary range reflects the target compensation for this role.
