Porter​/Custodian

Overview

Porter/Custodian – Full time, 40 hours per week. Position located in San Bruno, California. The role focuses on maintaining the exterior and interior condition of the community, ensuring cleanliness, safety and resident satisfaction.

• Perform daily cleaning and maintenance of common areas, lobbies, hallways, elevators and recreational spaces.
• Sanitize high‑traffic areas and monitor outdoor spaces such as sidewalks, parking lots and landscaping.
• Empty and keep tidy trash and recycling areas.
• Conduct routine inspections to identify maintenance or safety concerns and report them.
• Address minor maintenance issues (light bulb replacement, paint touch‑ups, furniture assembly).
• Assist residents with moving in and out, including loading/unloading belongings.
• Provide friendly and responsive customer service to residents.
• Collaborate with the team for a positive resident experience.
• Maintain outdoor landscaping, mowing lawns, trimming bushes and planting flowers.
• Complete work orders.

• 0–1 year of experience in custodial or maintenance work.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Strong communication skills with associates and residents.
• Ability to read and understand policies and procedures (Key Control Policy, Apartment Home Turnover Policy, maintenance emergency procedures).
• Knowledge of cleaning and chemical supplies, Hazard Communication Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and proper application of chemicals.
• Knowledge of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ability to use it properly.
• Basic understanding of emergency systems, shut‑offs, locations and sequence of operations.
• Demonstrated knowledge of paint types and paint tools.
