REPORTS TO: Facilities Manager
STATUS: Full-Time/Non-Exempt
COMPENSATION: $24.49 per hour, including paid medical insurance as well as paid time off (vacation, health, & holidays)
General SummaryThe Facilities Ambassador is part of a team of six supporting the day-to-day functioning of a safe and welcoming space for the community, working with Center staff, tenants, non-profit organizations, LGBTQ+ individuals, and vulnerable members of the community. The Center owns and operates a 35,000 square foot facility that provides direct services and space for special events, meetings and other types of gatherings.
Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesCourteously welcome clients and visitors to the Center, creating a hospitable environment and providing services to clients with the utmost dignity and respect.
Follow & implement all Center policies, procedures and Community Agreements.
Apply non-violent crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques to manage and resolve conflicts safely and effectively.
Monitor building entrances, lobbies, and outside surroundings to ensure building safety, including immediate assessment of hazards, and notification of appropriate management staff if/when identified.
Perform daily building opening and/or closing duties, depending on shift.
Independently perform routine janitorial duties to maintain cleanliness and hygiene across all facility areas.
Assist in the day-to-day functioning of the building, including maintenance, repairs, acting as a liaison with vendors, and other duties as assigned by the Facilities Manager.
Support Room Rental Coordinator by providing room set-ups/breakdowns and responding to event holder on-site requests. Serve as a liaison to event holders as needed.
Monitor, identify, and report building maintenance needs and/or safety hazards.
In the absence of Facilities Manager or other management personnel, act as Center liaison to emergency responders (police, paramedics, fire department, etc.).
In urgent crisis situations, contact emergency responders, in accordance with the Center’s 911 policy.
Perform additional facility-related tasks as directed by the Facilities Manager to support Center operations.
Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies, safety equipment, and other facility-related materials; notify Facilities Manager when restocking is needed.
Maintain accurate logs of visitors and vendors entering the building, in accordance with Center policies.
Assist in implementing and maintaining emergency preparedness plans, including participation in drills.

Knowledge/familiarity with LGBTQ+ community and/or ability to work with a broad range of community members representing the full diversity of the LGBTQ+ and allied communities.
Strong commitment to racial, social, and economic justice.
Ability to work professionally and ethically in a multi-cultural team setting, including ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Strong customer service/communication skills essential.
Ability to maintain supportive working relationships with a wide variety of community-based organizations.
Familiarity with basic maintenance/repair.
Ability to work independently and/or with limited supervision.
Ability to follow written instructions and diagrams.
Basic computer skills (email, calendar, Word, Zoom, etc.).
Initiative, dependability, and flexibility.
Able to work indoors/outdoors and perform tasks on a ladder of 10 ft. and higher.
Basic understanding of emergency response protocols and ability to act calmly and effectively in urgent situations.
Familiarity with building systems such as HVAC, lighting, and security preferred.
Demonstrated ability to manage and de-escalate conflicts in a respectful and effective manner.
Ability to lift and carry up to 100 lbs as needed for facility tasks and event setups.
Prior experience using crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and/or de-escalation methods.
CPR, First Aid, and/or OSHA Certification.
