Program Support / Housekeeping Staff
The Program Support / Housekeeping Staff maintains clean, safe, and operationally ready facilities at JCCSF and offsite preschools. This role ensures high housekeeping standards while providing support for events and programming, including Kanbar Hall seating operations, setup, and breakdown.
The position helps maintain consistent operational coverage, supports physically demanding tasks safely, and contributes to smooth daily operations across programs, camps, and events.
Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of all common areas, program spaces, operational areas, and shared spaces.
- Perform routine housekeeping: sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, trash removal, and restroom maintenance.
- Assist with general facility upkeep, storage organization, and equipment readiness.
- Monitor facility areas and report maintenance or safety concerns.
- Maintain cleaning equipment and supplies safely and efficiently.
- Assist with setup and breakdown of events, tables, chairs, and room adjustments.
- Operate and support Kanbar Hall retractable seating unit (extension, retraction, assembly) safely.
- Ensure spaces are cleaned and reset after use.
- Follow all workplace safety procedures and cleaning protocols.
- Safely perform physically active tasks at heights, including lifting, bending, standing, and moving furniture or equipment.
- Ensure safe handling and storage of cleaning materials and equipment.
- Maintain operational coverage during peak programming periods, concurrent events, and temporary staff absences.
- Work cooperatively with facilities, program staff, and operations teams.
- Communicate facility needs or operational issues promptly to supervisors.
- Provide cross-departmental support as operational needs arise.
Requirements
- One or more years of experience in housekeeping or facility support services.
- Experience working in a school, preschool or community center (preferred)
- Knowledge of cleaning practices-products, custodial equipment and safety protocols - OSHA certification (preferred).
- Willingness to work overtime, nights, weekends or outdoors, as needed.
- Ability to perform physically active work safely, including lifting, bending, standing, and moving furniture or equipment.
- Strong attention to cleanliness, organization, and detail.
- Ability to follow safety and operational procedures.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Previous housekeeping, janitorial, or facility support experience preferred
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (a plus)
- Proficiency in Windows-based computer programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) - Salesforce a plus
Working Conditions
- Work takes place in a large community center, and involves regular contact with staff, children and families, visitors, and patrons.
- This is an on-site position.
Physical Requirements
- Safely lift and move heavy equipment, furniture, and supplies, up to 50 lbs.
- Stand, walk, bend, and move for extended periods while performing tasks.
- Safely perform repetitive physical work at heights, when required,
- Safely use ladders, step stools, or elevated platforms as needed.
- Occasional seated/standing use of computers and other office equipment.
Status Benefited, non-exempt position. Hours Full-time, 40 hours/week. Schedule Daytime, evening, weekend, and holiday hours required, based on event schedules.
