Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
As a Tool Mechanic Assistant at SVM, you will have the opportunity to support the fabrication shop by assisting with preventative maintenance tasks, equipment upkeep, and shop equipment coordination across our sheet metal, piping, and plumbing operations. The Tool Mechanic Assistant will play a crucial role in executing assigned tasks to help ensure the shop tools and machinery are maintained, organized, and supported to minimize downtime and support safe, reliable operations.
Whatyou will do
- Perform assigned preventative maintenance tasks on shop tools and equipment under the direction of the Tool Mechanics.
- Shadow repair processes and procedures, learning the ins and outs of our fabrication equipment.
- Assist with routine equipment upkeep such as cleaning, lubrication, basic inspections, and other activities.
- Monitor and support incoming equipment service requests by tracking, documenting, and routing requests to the appropriate Tool Mechanic.
- Maintain a comprehensive log of tools, equipment, and machinery, including preventive maintenance schedules, completed maintenance dates and performance.
- Inspect machinery during preventative maintenance activities, report abnormal findings, safety concerns, or potential repair needs if outside of expertise to the Laser Department Manager.
- Ensure all equipment adheres to safety standards and complies with regulatory and company guidelines.
- Produce and analyze reports on machinery efficiency, product quality, and equipment performance, addressing any identified inefficiencies and submits for management review.
- Collaborate with fabrication and field teams as needed to ensure equipment readiness and availability for upcoming projects.
- Support special projects, machine installations, or facility upgrades as needed.
- Assist with parts tracking, ordering, pickups, and inventory documentation as directed.
- Follow all safety procedures and company policies while supporting maintenance and equipment activities.
- Perform other duties as required to support the operations of the fabrication shop.
- 0-3 years of experience in a shop, maintenance, or mechanical support role required.
- Exposure to or experience maintaining fabrication tools and shop equipment a plus.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED; or equivalent combination of education and experience)
required. - Possesses excellent knowledge of safety protocols and regulatory standards for equipment operation required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
- Prior hands-on experience with mechanical systems, such as equipment maintenance, automotive repair, or similar is a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail, ensuring precision and accuracy when performing duties a must.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office(Outlook, Excel and Word) and construction software highly preferred.
- Ability to collaborate across departments and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical team members a must
. - Possesses a valid California’s Driver’s License and willing to submit to a DMV report a must.
This is a full-time non-exempt, hourly position. The compensation for this role is $28.00 - $36.06 per hour and is based on experience/skillset.
