Landfill Gas Technician Job Description

As a Landfill Gas Technician, you will work on projects related to landfill gas collection and control systems. Your role will involve monitoring and maintaining gas extraction systems to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and prevent the release of harmful gases into the atmosphere.

• Identify and locate gas leaks in pipelines and systems to ensure safety and system integrity.
• Maintain and repair gas pipelines to prevent leaks and ensure efficient operation.
• Adhere to safety regulations and protocols to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
• Conduct pressure tests on gas systems to check for leaks and ensure proper functioning.
• Use gas analyzers to measure and monitor gas concentrations.
• Repair and maintain gas valves to ensure they operate correctly.
• Familiarize with Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems for monitoring and controlling gas systems.

• Proficiency in identifying and locating gas leaks.
• Knowledge of HVAC systems, particularly those involving gas furnaces, boilers, and water heaters.
• Experience in pipeline maintenance and gas valve repair.
• Understanding of safety compliance and ability to conduct pressure testing.
• Skills in gas analysis and familiarity with SCADA systems.

• Proficiency in using methane and landfill calibration devices.
• Experience with GEM 500, GEM 5000, and Envision Analyzer Meter.
• Familiarity with data entry, meter reading software, and environmental testing.

You will spend 50-60% of your time working outdoors. At the end of the day, you will enter data and upload it to the system. You will be part of a team of eight, working in pairs to monitor systems. The dress code includes steel toe boots, jeans, and PPE provided by the client. This is a Contract position based out of San Jose, CA.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
