Role Description This full-time, on-site Maintenance Technician role is based in San Marcos, TX and supports the daily upkeep of student housing communities. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine inspections, responding to work orders, and completing general repairs on residential units, common areas, and building systems. Daily tasks include diagnosing and troubleshooting maintenance issues, conducting preventive maintenance on equipment and systems, and coordinating with property management to prioritize and document work.
The role also involves assisting with unit turns, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and ensuring compliance with safety standards and community guidelines. The Maintenance Technician collaborates with other team members and vendors to deliver reliable, resident-focused service.
Qualifications
- Strong maintenance and repair skills, including general building, apartment, and facility Maintenance & Repair.
- Experience with Equipment Maintenance and Industrial Maintenance in residential or commercial settings.
- Ability to perform Troubleshooting to identify, diagnose, and resolve mechanical, electrical, or plumbing issues.
- Knowledge of Preventive Maintenance practices to extend equipment life and reduce unplanned downtime.
- Understanding of basic safety standards, building codes, and proper use of tools and equipment.
- Ability to work on-site, manage multiple work orders, and communicate effectively with residents and team members.
- Prior experience in property or student housing maintenance is preferred; relevant certifications (e.g., HVAC, electrical, plumbing) are a plus.
- High school diploma or equivalent; valid driver’s license and ability to pass any required background checks.
