Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician I will assist in performing routine maintenance tasks across all The Salvation Army properties in Orange County. This entry‑level position supports the overall maintenance and upkeep of facilities, ensuring a safe and functional environment.

• Perform basic maintenance tasks such as painting, minor plumbing repairs, and general building upkeep, including custodial duties and event setup and teardown as needed.
• Assist senior maintenance staff with more complex repairs and projects.
• Conduct regular inspections of facilities to identify maintenance needs.
• Follow safety protocols and guidelines while performing maintenance tasks.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and work orders.
• Assist in managing maintenance supplies and equipment inventory.
• Must be able to climb ladders, walk on roofs, and perform jobs from scaffolding when necessary.
• Provide regular status reports to Facilities and Maintenance Supervisor regarding resolved issues, those needing attention, and those currently in progress; report all incidents of property damage immediately.
• Perform other duties as required by the Facilities and Maintenance Supervisor.

Working Conditions

Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis; grasp, push, pull objects such as files and reach overhead; operate computer, fax, and telephone; lift up to 60 lbs.

Diagnose issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions promptly.

Prioritize and complete work orders within specified timelines while managing multiple responsibilities.

Work collaboratively with team members, vendors, and other stakeholders.

Perform maintenance tasks with precision, ensuring safety and quality compliance.

• Basic knowledge of maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical, and carpentry.
• GED or high school diploma.
• 1–2 years of experience in maintenance or a related field (preferred).
• Any relevant certifications are a plus but not required.
• Criminal background check required with certification for Protect the Mission policies and procedures.
• Ability to work with, direct, and relate well with co‑workers, community members, and guests/clients.
• Able to function in a fast‑paced, frequently changing environment.
• Strong relationship skills, attention to detail, quality, and professionalism.

GED or better.

Basic knowledge of maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical, and carpentry.

Driver's License.
