Department Marketing StatementAs part of Housing, Dining & Auxiliary Enterprises (HDAE), Residential Operations is responsible for the physical plant administration of all 4.3 million gross square feet in the HDAE portfolio, consisting of residence halls, undergraduate and graduate student apartment complexes, family student apartments, and hospitality facilities that provide housing for over 10,000 students, faculty, and staff on campus. Residential Operations provides groundskeeping, hardscape maintenance, custodial, and maintenance services to campus facilities, and oversees Distribution & Logistical Services (DLS) including Furniture Services, Surplus Sales, Mail Services, Central Receiving, and Material Management & Logistics.
The team provides 24/7/365 essential services to the campus and supports the University's mission.

Job Duties and ResponsibilitiesBrief Summary of Job Duties: Under the supervision of a supervisor or lead personnel, the incumbent performs skilled painting tasks for University owned Residential Halls/Housing and related buildings on and off campus. Duties may include other tasks in support of departmental goals and operating needs. The role promotes Educational Equity and works in a multi-cultural, diverse environment and serves effectively in a team setting.
Required Qualifications- 4+ years of demonstrated work in the painter trade, including apartment painting and wood, drywall, plaster, and stucco repair.
- Ability to safely erect, operate scaffolding, ladders, lifts, power washers, spray systems (airless/HVLP), and air compressors.
- Ability to meet critical timelines and work independently or in teams; strong communication skills; ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
- High School Diploma
- May be required to work schedules other than 7:30AM - 4:30PM to meet department needs.
- Must hold a valid driver’s license, have a driving record per local policies, and/or enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program.
- Satisfactory criminal history background check.

Job Functions and Percentages of Time- 80% Technical - Painting and surface preparation, applying finishes, drywall repair, and related tasks. Includes coordination, safety, and occasional overtime as needed.
- 10% General - Additional duties, safety compliance, team communication, and support for department goals; may include leading or instructing assistants.
- 5% Security - Securing areas and keys, notifying clients of status, and related tasks.
- 5% Safety - Adheres to safety regulations, uses tools and equipment properly, and participates in safety programs.
