Location: Mission Campus / Facilities Operations

Schedule: 4 x 10-hour shifts (multiple day, swing, and night shift opportunities available)

Position Summary

The General Maintenance Engineer is an entry-level facility operations position responsible for supporting the maintenance, inspection, and operation of building infrastructure and utility systems. This role is designed for individuals seeking to develop a career in facility engineering, operations, skilled trades, or critical environment maintenance.

Working under the direction of senior engineers and facility leaders, the General Maintenance Engineer will assist with preventive maintenance, equipment monitoring, facility inspections, and basic troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, controls, and life safety systems. The position offers extensive hands‑on training and development opportunities to build technical skills and promote career advancement within facility operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine facility inspections and equipment rounds.
  • Assist with preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Support the operation and maintenance of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, building controls, and life safety systems.
  • Monitor equipment performance and report abnormal operating conditions.
  • Respond to maintenance requests and assist in resolving facility-related issues.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, logs, and work orders using the site's CMMS system.
  • Assist with equipment installations, repairs, and facility improvement projects.
  • Support contractors and vendors performing maintenance activities on-site.
  • Follow all environmental, health, and safety procedures and policies.
  • Participate in lockout/tagout, safety training, and operational readiness programs.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and professional mechanical and utility spaces.
  • Participate in emergency response activities and facility recovery efforts as required.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn facility systems and operations.
  • Basic understanding of maintenance tools and equipment.
  • Ability to safely perform physical work in industrial and commercial environments.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and customer service skills.
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to learn and follow established operational and maintenance procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in building maintenance, facilities, construction, manufacturing, utility operations, mechanical repair, military service, or related fields.
  • Trade school, vocational training, apprenticeship coursework, or technical education.
  • Exposure to:
    • HVAC systems
    • Electrical systems
    • Plumbing systems
    • Building automation and controls
    • Fire alarm and life safety systems
  • Experience working with hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
  • Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs and CMMS platforms such as Maximo.
