• High school diploma or GED
• Level 1 water certification for the state where the project is located
• One year of water operations experience
• Valid driver’s license

• Knowledge of engines, pumps, related equipment, general maintenance, safety practices, biological and chemical principles

The work environment includes indoor and outdoor settings, with exposure to elements, machinery, high pressure systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights, fumes, chemicals, and pathogens. Proper safety equipment must be used.

Physical tasks include sitting, standing, bending, reaching, lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing, and working in confined spaces. Vision and hearing must be sufficient for reading blueprints and operating equipment.

Operate and maintain water systems on assigned shifts, requiring NM Level 1 Water Certification.

• Operate, maintain, and repair water production and distribution systems
• Install and repair water mains, service lines, hydrants, valves, meters
• Monitor gauges, meters, control panels
• Start/stop equipment, operate valves
• Maintain logs, collect samples, perform lab tests
• Perform routine maintenance and custodial duties
• Follow safety procedures and work on-call shifts as needed
• Follow instructions and establish cooperative relationships
• Perform other duties as required
