Correctional Officer Specialist Maintenance (NMCD/PNM #16382)

Santa Fe, NM.

Salary

$19.97 - $29.95 Hourly ($41,527 - $62,291 Annually)

Job Purpose

This position will provide general maintenance, including carpentry, sheet rock, painting, repairing floors, cleaning, and similar duties within adult correctional facilities.

Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled maintenance work indoors and outdoors.
  • Maintain equipment and tools.
  • Prepare work orders.
  • Supervise inmate work crews within an adult correctional facility.

  • New Mexico Corrections Department (NMCD) staff
  • Public and private partners
  • Community members
Ideal Candidate
  • Experience as an electrician.
  • Experience in other areas of maintenance.
  • Experience operating vehicular and stationary mechanical equipment.
Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalency.

Employment Requirements
  • This position is safety sensitive.
  • Employment is subject to pre-employment and random drug testing in accordance with federal and state rules.
  • Candidates must pass a pre-employment academy screening.
  • Successful completion of the New Mexico Corrections Academy within one year of hire is required.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver’s License.
  • Applicant must be a U.S. citizen, at least 18 years old, good moral character, no felony convictions, and pass any required physical and aptitude examinations.
  • Employment is subject to a pre-employment background investigation and is conditional pending results.
Working Conditions

Work is performed in an adult prison environment, which includes daily contact with and supervision of inmates. Willingness to work in a correctional facility, may be required to work odd hours, overtime, holidays, and weekends.
