Heavy Duty Repair Technician
LocationSanta Rosa, CA
Job SummaryOur Heavy Duty Repair Technician performs service activities primarily in the main service shop for customer and/or sales and rental fleet equipment.
Essential Job Functions- Maintain a safe working environment; observe all safety procedures, laws, policies, and rules.
- Communicate with internal and external customers to promote positive relationships.
- Analyze and diagnose equipment malfunctions.
- Pre‑delivery setup and installation on all makes and models of Caterpillar equipment and allied products.
- Repair, replace, or rebuild engines, transmissions, fuel systems, final drives, steering clutches, cross‑shafts, hydraulic components (pumps, motors, valves), electrical and air systems.
- Write service reports that accurately document activities.
- Prepare required documentation including work orders, parts lists, and timecards efficiently.
- Perform assigned tasks in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner.
- Follow manufacturer and company service guidelines and procedures to ensure quality work and preserve documentation for failure analysis.
- Work overtime as needed within labor law guidelines.
- Operate company or personal vehicle as needed; maintain punctual, regular attendance.
- Associate's Degree from an accredited college or technical/vocational school in Diesel Technology or closely related field; or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Minimum 5 years of directly related experience in heavy equipment service.
- Must be a member of Local 3 of the Operating Engineers or willing to become one.
Pay rate: $45.00 per hour. Total compensation includes base salary and benefits.
