This cook position offers reasonable operating hours you don't often find in the restaurant industry, you can have your evenings to yourself! Help support some of the most vulnerable people in your community in a job that gives great work-life balance. If you were working for us as a Cook, here are some of the things you would have done last week:
- Prepared delicious, nutritious meals from scratch that brought comfort and enjoyment to Residents
- Cooked in batches and managed multiple stations to ensure meals were served on time and at the right temperature
- Created meals that followed Residents’ dietary needs and texture modifications, always using standardized recipes and safe practices
- Ensured the kitchen was kept clean, safe, and sanitary by practicing strong food safety habits, from handwashing to routine cleaning and sanitizing
- Checked and recorded food temperatures to ensure compliance with policies, Public Health regulations, and MOH guidelines
- Safely operated, cleaned, and maintained kitchen equipment to keep everything in excellent working order
- Contributed to special events like holiday dinners or summer barbecues that brought Residents and families together
- And supported your team as needed.

QualificationsTo be hired into this role, you must have:
- Certification in the Food Safety Awareness Course with recertification every 5 years
- Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS) check completed within the past 6 months
- Minimum 2 years cooking experience; previous experience with Retirement or Long Term Care an asset
