Operations Manager
As a Foreman, you are responsible for overseeing the daily production activities within the service center to ensure safe, efficient, and high‑quality operations. You will coordinate the flow of steel through multiple machines and work areas, ensuring production targets are met while minimizing downtime and operational delays. Your role includes monitoring equipment performance, identifying bottlenecks, and making proactive adjustments to maintain a steady and optimized workflow.
You will provide direction and support to service center associates, assigning tasks, ensuring proper training, and reinforcing adherence to all safety protocols and operational procedures. You are accountable for verifying that all processed materials are tagged, packaged, and handled according to Pacesetter’s quality standards and customer specifications.
Strong communication is essential, as you will regularly update leadership on production status, equipment concerns, staffing needs, and quality issues. By maintaining clear communication and effective coordination across the team, you help ensure seamless operations and a productive, safety‑focused work environment.
ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Team Development
- Set the standard for work ethic, safety, appearance, and conduct.
- Provide clear direction by delegating assignments based on skill, workload, and operational priorities.
- Train, coach, and support service center associates to ensure consistent performance and adherence to procedures.
- Monitor associate conduct and partner with the Assistant Service Center Manager on corrective or disciplinary actions.
- Serve as the acting Assistant Service Center Manager when needed.
- Maintain a safe working environment and ensure all associates follow safety protocols and PPE requirements.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of Report of Injury forms.
- Promote a culture of safety by identifying risks and using corrective/preventive actions to improve processes.
- Maintain confidentiality of all sensitive information.
- Oversee daily receiving, inspecting, processing, packaging, and shipping activities to ensure smooth workflow and on time performance.
- Verify that all receiving processes are completed accurately and efficiently.
- Ensure all orders meet customer specifications, quality standards, and documentation requirements.
- Review and sign off on shipping checklists to confirm proper loading, securing, and tarping of materials.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and efficient work environment with all materials stored properly.
- Support and uphold all Pacesetter policies, procedures, and quality processes.
- Assist with inspection activities and ensure product quality meets customer expectations.
- Communicate effectively with Expediting, Quality Assurance, and other departments to resolve issues and maintain workflow.
- Participate in special projects and operational initiatives assigned by the Assistant Service Center Manager or Service Center Manager.
