Under direct supervision, performs a variety of repair, maintenance and cleaning of buildings and related structures.

All Coastal Health District, County Health Department employees are deemed essential employees in the event of an emergency. As such, you may be called on to participate in an event not limited to but including, staffing a shelter, a Specimen Point of Collection Site (SPOC) and/or Point of Dispensing site (POD). When you are called on to participate, you are expected and it will be a part of your job requirement to participate, whether the emergency occurs during or outside regular work hours.
Job Responsibilities- Operates trade related tools and equipment
- Performs basic and skilled painting, carpentry, and roofing tasks
- Performs general maintenance, cleaning and repair work on facilities and equipment
- Performs routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines operate smoothly, efficiently and physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate
- Repairs and performs maintenance on plumbing fixtures, lighting, air vents and air conditioning units and facilities
- Wears safety equipment and observes all safety practices and regulations
- Grounds upkeep, inspect lawn sprinkler system for leaks
- Assist with emergency response
- Maintains and stocks equipment and supplies as needed
- Other duties as assigned
High school diploma/GED and two (2) years of experience in building repairs and maintenance or in the specific area of assignment; or one (1) year of experience at the lower level General Trades Tech 1 (FET
030) or position equivalent.
Preferred:
Three plus year of general maintenance experience, basic plumbing/electrical knowledge, previous experience in Public Health/Healthcare setting.
