Overview

The Janitor is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of airport facilities, including terminals, restrooms, and public areas. This role involves cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and waste disposal to ensure a pleasant environment for passengers and staff. You must adhere to health and safety regulations and use cleaning chemicals and equipment effectively. Additionally, you are responsible for reporting maintenance issues and ensuring cleaning supplies are well-stocked and maintained.

Responsibilities
  • Perform general cleaning duties across airport areas, including terminals, restrooms, and offices
  • Operate cleaning machinery, such as vacuum cleaners, floor buffers, and carpet cleaners
  • Empty trash bins and dispose of waste in designated areas
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, ensuring they are stocked with necessary supplies
  • Dust and polish furniture, fixtures, and windows
  • Sweep, mop, and maintain floors, walkways, and stairways
  • Respond to cleaning emergencies or spillages promptly
  • Replenish cleaning and toiletry supplies in bathrooms and other facilities
  • Follow all safety and health regulations related to cleaning and chemical use
  • Report any maintenance issues or repairs needed
  • Exemplify Prime Flight customer service and safety standards
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned by management
Qualifications
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Eligible to work in the United States
  • Communicate effectively in English (reading, writing, speaking)
  • Basic ability to follow safety protocols and cleaning instructions
  • Prior experience in janitorial or cleaning services is preferred
  • Knowledge of cleaning techniques and the use of cleaning equipment
  • Ability to access and interpret information in print and electronically, including the use of electronic devices (iPads/Tablets, Computers, and Mobile Devices)
  • Effective communication with colleagues and clients, in-person and electronically
  • Pass a background check and drug screen
  • Eligibility to acquire needed credentials and clearances (FAA, TSA, Port Authority, U.S. Customs, as applicable)
  • Flexibility to work various shifts including nights, weekends and holidays
Physical Activity/Working Conditions
  • Ability to lift up to 70 pounds
  • Prolonged standing and walking in indoor/outdoor environments
  • May need to reach with arms and grasp with hands
  • May need to push and pull
  • May need to crawl and crouch in confined spaces
  • May need to bend, stretch, squat, kneel
  • Exposure to moderate and sometimes high noise levels
  • Exposure to biohazards and/or chemicals
  • Be able to hear and respond to spoken voice and audible alarms
  • Repetitive motions of arms, wrists, hands and fingers
  • Vision requirements: close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustments
