Aircraft Component Repair Technician Senior – Structures in GAC Savannah
Position PurposeWorking with a high degree of independence, provide leadership and technical guidance while performing the repair and overhaul of internal and external aircraft assemblies, subassemblies and components in accordance with GAC Repair Station requirements.
Responsibilities- Interpret and apply technical data from the Aircraft Structural Repair Manual, Aircraft Maintenance Manual, and other authorized documents.
- Lead complex repairs and damage assessments, ensuring regulatory compliance and airworthiness.
- Oversee repair or replacement of defective parts, fabrication of replacement components, and installations according to blueprints, component maintenance manuals, and vendor documents.
- Set up and operate test equipment to perform functional and operational tests of mechanical and electrical aircraft components.
- Inspect detailed parts using blueprints and maintenance data, ensuring conformity with conformance requirements.
- Remove skins and related flight‑control components, locate and install/reinstall parts.
- Apply repair techniques, including composite honeycomb core sandwich construction, test‑bench procedures, hydraulic press procedures, and servicing carts.
- Fabricate and repair sheet‑metal and mechanical parts by rolling, shrinking, stretching, riveting, or other means.
- Remove and install APUs, perform maintenance for all GAC aircraft models.
- Provide technical support to customer support coordinators and tech services.
- Perform complex troubleshooting and repairs of electronic assemblies, using appropriate soldering and circuit repair techniques.
- Fabricate and repair wiring, electrical assemblies and harnesses through splicing, soldering, and pinning.
- Co‑operate with QC representatives to perform mass‑weight balance on repaired flight controls using required FAA Repair Station forms.
- Assist with training aircraft component repair technicians.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- A & P license, FCC license, or NCATT certification preferred.
- Six (6) years in sheet‑metal and/or hydraulic overhaul, avionics/electronic component repair, APU removal/install/service, or related experience.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering documents, component manufacturing data, and aircraft maintenance instructions.
- Proficiency with all required tools and equipment, basic shop math, and precision measuring and inspection tools.
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills.
- Excellent technical skill and ability to work independently.
- English reading, writing, speaking, and understanding.
