Work at home all of the time
To inspect cargo damaged in transit and determine the nature, cause, and extent of damages; to review documents to determine when the cargo was damaged; and to provide written reports to underwriters and other parties with a qualified opinion as to the cause of loss.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES- Oversees loading and unloading of cargo from ships and other forms of transit to document damages as they are loaded and/or unloaded.
- Inspects damaged ships to determine cause of the damage and amount of damage resulting from collisions or motor failures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Supports the organization's quality program(s).
- Travels as required.
Education & Licensing: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
Experience: Five (5) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Skills & Knowledge: Good oral and written communication skills; PC literate, including Microsoft Office products; good customer service skills; good organizational skills; ability to work independently and in a team environment; ability to meet or exceed performance competencies.
WORK ENVIRONMENTMental: Clear and conceptual thinking ability; excellent judgment, troubleshooting, problem solving, analysis, and discretion; ability to handle work‑related stress; ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously; and ability to meet deadlines.
Physical: Must be able to stand and/or walk for long periods of time; must be able to kneel, squat or bend; must be able to work outdoors in hot and/or cold weather conditions; ability to climb, crawl, stoop, kneel, and reach/working overhead; be able to push/pull up to 100 pounds; be able to drive up to 4 hours per day; must have continual use of manual dexterity.
