Overview
This is an entry-level position responsible for assisting with the routine maintenance and repair of university facilities, grounds, and equipment. This role provides support for campus events by helping with setup, breakdown, and logistical needs to ensure a safe, clean, and functional environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. The incumbent may be required to respond to campus emergencies and closures as needed.
Responsibilities- Perform basic maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs, unclogging drains, painting, patching walls, moving furniture, and minor carpentry or plumbing repairs.
- Assist with preventative maintenance and report facility issues to supervisors or higher-level technicians.
- Conduct routine inspections of classrooms, offices, and other campus buildings to identify needed repairs or safety concerns.
- Provide event support by setting up and removing tables, chairs, staging, podiums, and audiovisual equipment as directed.
- Assist with logistics for university events, including traffic barricades, signage, trash removal, and cleanup.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment safely and effectively.
- Perform groundskeeping tasks such as mowing, leaf removal, snow and ice removal, and debris cleanup.
- Respond promptly to work orders, service requests, and after-hours emergencies as assigned.
- Collaborate with custodial, facilities, and event staff to ensure campus operations run smoothly.
- Deliver excellent customer service when assisting faculty, staff, students, and guests.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of university facilities and events.
- High school diploma or GED required; vocational or technical training preferred.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, bend, and work in confined spaces or elevated areas.
- Willingness to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Availability for on-call duties, rotating shifts, and occasional overtime as needed.
- Two (2) year experience in general maintenance, facilities support, or event services preferred.
The proposed salary is $16.35 per hour.
