Facility maintenance worker

Houston Behavioral Healthcare Hospital (HBHH) currently has an opening for Full‑Time Maintenance Technician, Monday‑Friday, 8a‑5p. The maintenance technician will report to the Director of Plant Operations.

• Survey buildings and repair mechanical systems to ensure they are consistent with health and safety standards

• Perform light maintenance of electrical systems (replace light bulbs, inspect circuit breaker panels, etc.)
• Maintain plumbing systems to ensure functionality
• Inspect alarm systems (fire, protection) and schedule repairs when needed

• Assist in the setup of ventilation, refrigeration and other systems and conduct repairs when necessary
• Perform manual repairs when necessary (fix locks, replace windows, etc.)

• Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that building systems operate efficiently and that the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate
• Conduct general upkeep procedures (e.g., landscaping) and other tasks as assigned (painting, carpentry, sheetrock, etc.)

• Move furniture, set up rooms, and manage inventory of cleaning and repair supplies

• Maintain logs of completed work, repairs, and inspections
• Complete work orders assigned by the Director of Plant Operations or Maintenance Supervisor

This position requires on‑call work. Must live close enough to get to the hospital within 45 minutes of receiving a call.

• Drywall and painting experience
• Experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and report to supervisors.

• Climbing, ability to ascend/descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps using feet, legs, hands and arms. Body agility is important. Maintaining bodily equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing or crouching on narrow, slippery or erratically moving surfaces. Stooping, bending downward and forward by bending the spine at the waist; kneeling bending the knees to come to rest on single or both knees;
  
  crouching bending the body downward and forward by bending legs and spine; crawling, moving about on hands, knees and feet; reaching, extending hands and arms in any direction.
