The Construction Bookkeeper is a full-time, on-site role based in the Greater Chicago Area. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records for construction projects, including processing invoices, managing accounts payable and receivable, and preparing project cost reports. The Construction Bookkeeper will record and reconcile journal entries, assist with the preparation of financial statements, and help ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards.

Day-to-day tasks include working with accounting software, supporting payroll and job costing, coordinating with project managers on budgets and expenditures, and assisting with periodic audits and financial reviews.

• Candidates should possess strong skills in bookkeeping and finance, with experience managing project-based financial records.
• Candidates should possess the ability to prepare, review, and interpret financial statements for construction-related activities.
• Candidates should possess experience with journal entries (accounting), including posting, reconciling, and maintaining accurate ledgers.
• Candidates should possess proficiency with accounting software commonly used in construction or commercial contracting environments.
• Additional beneficial qualifications include prior experience in construction or contracting, knowledge of job costing and payroll processes, strong attention to detail, and solid organizational and communication skills.
• An associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience, is preferred.
