The Schaumburg Township District Library is looking for a Community Engagement Librarian to join our team, someone who is passionate about building meaningful community partnerships, expanding access to library services and connecting people with resources that improve lives. We are seeking a dynamic and community-focused candidate to coordinate community engagement initiatives, including pop-up libraries, community partnerships, and social services programming.
This role offers a unique opportunity to strengthen the Library’s presence throughout the community and foster meaningful connections through innovative and responsive engagement.
This is a full-time, salaried position working 37.5 hours per week, with days, nights and weekend flexibility as needed.
The hiring range for this position is $57,837-$69,400, based on skills and qualifications. Our schedules are based on the needs of the library and could change if and when needed.

Position Summary:
As the Community Engagement Librarian at Schaumburg Township District Library, you’ll play a pivotal role in strengthening relationships between the Library and the community. We seek a collaborative, organized, and innovative individual to coordinate pop-up library services, support community outreach initiatives, cultivate partnerships with community organizations, and support social services programming through collaboration with local agencies. In this role, you’ll coordinate logistics and staffing for pop-up events, provide training and support to staff, identify and develop community partnerships, and represent the Library at community engagement initiatives and outreach events.
The Community Engagement Librarian must also strongly advocate for equitable access to library services and support the Library’s strategic initiatives of building connections, future readiness, community responsiveness, and meaningful outreach opportunities.
The hours for this position are:
Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m.
-4:00 p.m., with flexibility to work nights and weekends for programs and events as necessary.

Experience developing and maintaining community partnerships and collaborative relationships with local organizations, agencies, and businesses
Demonstrated success coordinating outreach initiatives, programs, or community engagement activities
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations, community partners, patrons, and staff
Strong organizational skills, including the ability to coordinate multiple events, schedules, staffing needs, and operational details simultaneously
Experience supporting and coordinating staff in public-facing service environments
Ability to work independently and proactively in a dynamic environment with changing priorities and frequent interruptions
Demonstrated ability to evaluate services and programs using statistics, feedback, and community needs assessments
Ability to work cooperatively, productively, and positively with colleagues across departments
