NCOM – Director of Experiential Education

Niazee College of Osteopathic Medicine (NCOM), a private, independent, not-for-profit institution in Schaumburg, IL, seeks an innovative physician to serve as Director of Experiential Education
, Simulation, and Standardized Patient Experiences. This full-time faculty role leads simulation-based pre-clinical and clinical education, including OPP/OMT, foundational sciences, standardized patient encounters, POCUS, and OSCEs, while overseeing personnel, budgets, operations, partnerships, and accreditation requirements.

The Director collaborates with faculty, students, residents/fellows, Course Directors, Department Chairs, Section Chiefs, and Academic Deans to align experiential learning with curriculum goals, clinical needs, research priorities, and student outcomes.

To thrive/succeed as the Director of Experiential Education, you should have:
  • MD or DO degree with clinical training, active board certification (ABMS/AOA), and eligibility for medical licensure in Illinois.
  • Significant experience in medical education, simulation-based learning, standardized patient programs, and/or POCUS education.
  • Demonstrated expertise in clinical POCUS instruction and integration of experiential learning into medical education curricula.
  • Proven ability to design, implement, assess, and improve simulation-based and experiential education programs.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience supervising personnel and collaborating across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of medical school, GME, hospital education structures, and accreditation standards, including COCA and ACGME requirements.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage complex projects, resources, and competing priorities.
Your responsibilities as the Director of Experiential Education, will include:
  • Provides strategic oversight and leadership for simulation, POCUS, OSCE, and standardized patient programs to advance institutional educational goals and accreditation standards.
  • Leads curriculum innovation and program development by designing, implementing, and evaluating high-quality experiential learning experiences in collaboration with faculty and academic leadership.
  • Manages operational and financial resources for experiential education programs, including budgets, facilities, equipment, scheduling, and long-term growth planning.
  • Builds and leads high-performing teams through recruitment, supervision, mentorship, and fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Ensures program excellence and institutional alignment through quality assurance, assessment effectiveness, accreditation readiness, and strong internal and external partnerships.
