Join an award-winning Library! Schaumburg Township District Library is looking for a Senior Services Coordinator to join our team. This is a full-time, salaried position working 37.5 hours a week, working days with nights and weekends as needed.
The hiring range for this position is $54,074-$64,877, based on skills and qualifications. Our schedules are based on the needs of the library and could change if and when needed.

Position SummaryThe Senior Services Coordinator is responsible for strengthening and nurturing relationships between senior residents, local organizations that serve seniors, and the Library. The Senior Services Coordinator creates and delivers specialized services and programs to seniors that directly address senior needs and help fulfill the Library’s mission. The Senior Services Coordinator is also responsible for coordinating Pop-Up Libraries at senior living facilities and senior organizations throughout the community.

- Develop and maintain contacts with senior residents
- Develop new partnerships and maintain and build upon existing relationships with senior organizations in the district
- Serve as liaison with community and municipal groups, and identify and analyze emerging community issues and needs to help determine direction for programs and services
- Recommend, develop, implement and evaluate new programs and services that meet the needs of Schaumburg Township’s senior residents
- Coordinate the schedule for the staff Pop-Up Libraries at senior living facilities and senior-serving organizations throughout the community
- Facilitate book discussions for senior groups at off-site locations and virtually via Zoom and/or other online platforms
- Select book discussion books, distribute books to patrons, develop discussion questions, and facilitate discussions
- Maintain an awareness of new literature, technology, and trends in the profession
- Maintain an awareness of all library services and assist seniors with using them, including online resources and downloadable media
- Identify possible grant opportunities to help fund programs and services for seniors and assist in the grant application process
- Collaborate with Outreach Associate to ensure library services are provided to patrons who are unable to visit the Library, register patrons for the Home Delivery service, and promote community awareness of the Library’s outreach services
- Maintain an up-to-date awareness of the Illinois State Library’s Talking Books and Braille Service, and register interested patrons for the service
- Attend workshops, classes, webinars and conferences to enhance knowledge of community engagement, outreach, and services and programs for seniors
- Attend local networking meetings for outreach, community engagement, and senior services staff
- Manage and complete special projects assigned
- Treat all patrons and employees fairly and with an open mind; maintain patron and employee confidentiality
- Communicate problems that arise with supervisor or designee; particularly situations where patrons are not following Patron Code of Conduct
